We love waterfalls and we make a point to explore everyone we can find. I hadn’t heard of this park before but we happened to see a sign as we were driving by and decided to explore and what a wonderful surprise Deckertown Falls turned out to be. This place is definitely a hidden gem that is off the beaten path and well worth the visit.

Hiking

This is a short hike but but it is steep in places, so it may be more difficult after a heavy rain because it’s a dirt trail and there are areas that get quite muddy and slippery.

There are places that you can walk down to the creek and get a closer view of the waterfalls but for the most part, you should really stick to the trail as it isn’t easy getting up and down the gorge.

The trail ends abruptly at the top of the hill. The land around the trail is private and posted like crazy. So… stay on the trail. Beware: There is a road at the top of the hill and a bridge that passes over the ravine. Do not let little kids run ahead of you here. Honestly, I don’t recommend hiking this with young children.

There is an off shoot that runs along the top of the creek, where you can follow the gorge and see more of the gorgeous falls. You can easily miss it if you aren’t paying attention. Watch you step here, the trail is narrow.

Waterfalls

If you are a waterfall chaser, you need to add this place to your must-visit list! We have visited several times, and every time, I am more blown away. There are quite a few waterfalls along the trail that can be viewed from above. It is easier to see the Falls in the Spring and late fall when the trees are bare.

As mentioned before, there are places where you can get down into the creek, especially at the beginning of the hike. The waterfalls here are gorgeous and definitely worth checking out. I would not recommend trying to hike up the creek. If you do decide to head up the creek, I would save it for a really warm day because you will absolutely get wet.

Getting to Deckertown Falls

Deckertown Falls is located at the bottom of a dead-end road. There are lots of signs in the area directing you to the falls, so once you get near the falls, it should be easy to locate.
