Cracker Box Palace Farm Animal Haven is a no-kill sanctuary for farm animals as well as the Wayne County large animal rescue. Animals are brought to this haven for a variety of reasons, but they all receive lots of love and attention. These animals are cared for by a dedicated team of volunteers who help them recover and thrive in their new surroundings.

I was astonished at just how friendly all the animals were and how much they wanted to interact with us. When you consider that many of these animals were removed from an abusive situation, the fact that they still adore people is a testament to the love and care they receive at Cracker Box Palace.

Fostering and Adoption

Many of the animals are available for fostering or adoption. In fact, this shelter has a unique way of placing animals in fur-ever homes. Individuals looking to adopt can foster one of these animals first to see how it goes for three months, after the initial three-month period, they can proceed with this adoption or return the animal to the shelter.

Meet the Animals

Cracker Box Haven is free to visit; guests can stroll around the property and meet all the residents. We found that most of the animals were very excited to have visitors and loved the attention we gave them. I can’t stress enough how friendly and interactive the animals are. You can tell they receive a lot of love and attention.

Oodles of Beautiful Horses

If you love horses, you will love Cracker Box Palace. The horses here are about the friendliest we have ever encountered. It was hilarious when one horse noticed us; he whinnied loudly to his “horse friends,” who all came running up to the fence to see us. They were very sweet and loved being talked to and petted.

Bring the Animals Treats

Visitors are welcome to bring the animals healthy treats. Kids will love this opportunity for additional interaction with the farm animals.

Hiking the Woods

There is a lot to do at Cracker Box Palace. Along with visiting all the beautiful animals, there are over 300 acres to hike that are part of the Genesee Land Trust. There are creeks that run through the property, making a hike here beyond lovely. Little ones will love walking the Fairy Trail. The land is open to the public for hiking; they only ask that you stop by the office and alert the staff that you will be hiking in the woods.

Other Fun Farm Activities

Visitors can enjoy the other amenities that are offered by the farm, such as farm camping and you pick apples in their orchards. Visitors can also snowshoe and horseback ride on the property. This is a great place to get back to nature.
