The Buffalo Wing was born on March 4th, 1964 in this innocuous bar in downtown Buffalo. Chicken wings were traditionally always considered a waste product and were only used in soup stock prior to this amazing discovery. One night, Dominic Bellissimo was working at his family’s bar and his friend came in. Dominic’s mother decided to feed the hungry boys deep-fried chicken wings covered in her special sauce. They were an immediate success and caught on like fire, and just like that, the Buffalo Wing was born.

It is Not Just Chicken Wings- Great Food Awaits You At The Orginal Anchor Bar
The Original Anchor Bar, of course, serves the world’s best Buffalo Wings! It also has a complete menu of great food that is cooked to perfection. I would love to say that all chicken wings are created equal, but after eating at the Anchor Bar, I have come to the conclusion that this is just not the case. These wings, as they should be, are a step above the average everyday wing.
Not for nothing but I had the single best margarita in my life at the Anchor Bar. The food was top-notch and absolutely delicious! The wait staff was very friendly, and attentive and our food came out very quickly. I will definitely return.

The Original Anchor Bar has a great Atmosphere
While there are several throughout New York as well as California and Texas, This is the Original and the one that started a food revolution. This restaurant will not disappoint. Admittedly, the decor can be a bit overwhelming when you first walk in. Everything from license plates, motorcycles, pictures, and all sorts of local nostalgia. Some of the decorations are nautically themed (as you might imagine a restaurant called the Anchor Bar might have.) Look for pictures of the famous people who have enjoyed food at this iconic restaurant, including The King himself, Elvis Presley.
We had a great dining experience at this restaurant. It was surprisingly not crowded and the service was excellent. Even though it is called The Anchor Bar and yes, there is a bar inside, this restaurant is an ideal place to bring a family. They welcome kids and it is a fun and casual place to enjoy a meal together.
