When my kids were little this was one of my favorite places to visit and my kids loved coming here. Even now, as teenagers, they still ask if we are going to visit at Halloween and Christmas, which of course, we do. Powers has become a family tradition for my family. There is always something for families to do at Power at any time of year.

Powers began as a dairy farm in the 1960s. Over the last 50 years has evolved into the farm market that we know and love. While this is a great stop for handmade fry cakes, cider, sweet corn, pumpkins, flowers, and crafts. The real draw to Powers, especially for my family, is the animals. Powers has just about some of the cutest and friendliest animals around.

Pet and Feed Friendly Farm Animals at Powers

Powers has a large collection of docile farm animals, such as sheep, miniature donkeys, deer, goats, a miniature pony, llamas, rabbits, and chickens, that visitors can feed ($0.25 for a handful of feed) and pet. This is the part that my kids really loved. The animals are charming, sweet, and love interacting with visitors, especially if you happen to have a little food in your hand. My kids could literally spend hours feeding the animals. We would come and visit just to spend some time with our favorite fluffy barnyard friends.

Every Season Bring Something New at Powers

No matter what time of year you visit, there is always something happening at Powers. In May, you can join them for their annual Baa Fest featuring wool spinning, face painting, hayrides, crafts, and, of course meeting the new baby lambs.

Powers is the place to get all your Summer fruits and vegetables. Don’t forget to try their fruit pie and strudel. Powers also has sunflowers and hanging baskets to brighten your home.

Summer Eye Spy Hayrides

Enjoy a hayride with a twist! The Eye Spy Hayride takes riders into the Powers Woods, where they can spot random items to complete their quest. Find the Bob Ross statue, and you win a cookie. This is a family favorite activity that the kids will want to do over and over again. The object are hidden in different spots every day, so you can come back again and again.

Hayrides Schedule:

Fridays: 9:30-2:30 pm, Saturday: 9-3 pm, Sunday: 9-3 pm.

Halloween at Powers

Of course, there are the traditional Powers tepees. Go inside and view all the pumpkins glowing, and walk through the spooky ghost room as you exit on the other side. My kids would go through the tepees over and over again. Wander through the rows upon rows of pumpkins. Inside the log cabin, you can purchase fresh apple cider, fry cakes, and Halloween decorations. If you visit on the weekends, you can enjoy Powers corn maze.

Haunted Hayride

Powers has one of the best-haunted hayrides, not just for kids but in general, especially if you aren’t into having people jumping out at you. They offer rides both during the day and at night. No need to worry that these hayrides might be too scary for your little ones. The ride is a lot of fun, with lots of over-the-top still sets or sets with audio-animatronic. There are no actors jumping out to scare people here. The ride is spooky without being scary. Check their schedule for prices and ride times.

Photo Opportunities

There are all sorts of photo opportunities at Powers. This is a great place to get family photos. They have a door scene set up for every season that people can pose in front of.

Christmas at Powers

Christmastime at Powers Farm Market is magical with their Live Nativity and lighted walking trail. It is an annual tradition in our family to visit Powers during the Christmas season. Powers does an excellent job of getting us into the Christmas spirit!

There is a lighted trail that leads visitors through the Christmas Story. There are several stops on the trail where the visitors can press a button at a podium, and the scenes light up, and the children’s voices narrate the story of the first Christmas. The trail finishes at the barn, where there is an audio-animatronic Mary and Joseph with a baby Jesus in the manger.

All of the animals from the farm market are in and around the barn area to be fed and petted by visitors (always my kids’ favorite part – even now when they are almost all grown up!)

Take a festive family picture in front of Powers Christmas Door. Inside the cabin, sit by a roaring fire a drink hot cider or hot cocoa.
