A trip to Niagara Falls just would not be complete without a stop at this iconic eatery. Hidden away in the Sheraton At The Falls on Old Falls Street, this is the most kid-friendly restaurant I have ever seen. My kids were basically speechless. The decor was like stepping into a dream. Every detail had been thought of. It was almost visually overwhelming. And then the smells. I love going out to eat. I enjoy trying different foods, and the smells that were waffling through the air at this restaurant were just mouth-watering.

(Full Disclosure-We make it a point to never tell anyone at any restaurant that we are Adventures in New York because we want to have the same experience you would have when visiting.)

The Decor of the Rainforest Cafe

We were seated near the elephants, and in my opinion, this was the best area of the restaurant. It was not by a window, which consequently would ruin the effect of the “thunderstorms” that happened every few minutes. No kidding, every few minutes, the restaurant would be subjected to darkening “skies”, as the lights would dim and “lightning” would flash, and the sound of a thunderstorm would permeate the restaurant. Not loud enough to frighten small children, just something to add a little bit extra to your experience.

There are other creature areas throughout the restaurant and they invite you to openly explore. The audio-animatronic animal settings, complete with sounds, are just fantastic. My kids had a great time walking around the restaurant and gift shop looking at all the animals. My son’s menu had a scavenger hunt, where they had to locate a large number of animals in the restaurant, which was a fun way to occupy our time while we waited for our food.

The Food at the Rainforest Cafe

The food itself was amazing. I have to say of all the restaurants I have ever eaten at, the food here was the best. The kid’s menu was outstanding and my son, who is a picky eater, had no problem deciding what he wanted to eat. However, other than the kid’s meals, the rest of the entrees are expensive. The staff was extremely courteous and attentive. Overall, this was an excellent, family-friendly dining experience and I highly recommend it if you find yourself in the Niagara Falls area.

Note: The parking lot does charge but parking can be validated for restaurant guests.
