Myers Marine Park

This park on the east side of Cayuga Lake has so much to offer visitors, more than I ever imagined when I first visited. We were visiting Salt Point Natural Area and decided to wander over to this beautiful park right next door and explore all the unique features that draw people here, even in the winter.

A Beautiful Lakeside Park

Myers Marine Park

First and foremost, Myer Marine Park is a lovely lakeside park that offers access to Cayuga Lake not only as a boat launch but also as a place to swim, fish, or just sit and enjoy the charm and beauty of the Lake.

Historic North Log Cabin

Myers Marine Park

The North Cabin is the only log cabin left in Lansing. The Cabin was built in 1791 by Thomas North. At the time, was considered the New York frontier. It passed through several hands and was moved to numerous locations, including the Cayuga Museum. The log cabin was moved to its present location in 2009.

Myers Point Lighthouse

Myers Marine Park

One of my favorite features of this park is the lighthouse. Myers Point Lighthouse was built in 1998 by volunteers and private donations. This lighthouse has a working strobe light that operates from spring through fall. The point itself is very peaceful and a lovely place to sit and enjoy the scenery and the Lake.

VVA Watch Fire

Each year, for the last 33 years, there has been an enormous POW/MIA watch fire on the shore of Cayuga Lake at Myers Park on National Prisoner of War and Missing in Action Day on September 15th. A watchfire is a military tradition; it is a guiding light for soldiers after a battle. Today, these fires are lit in remembrance of fallen soldiers and those missing in action.

Park Facilities

This park literally has something for everyone, and the list is extensive.

Fishing Pier

Myers Marine Park

There is a fantastic fishing pier located between the beach and the lighthouse. There are metal benches on the pier, and you can either sit and enjoy the view (FYI, this is a great spot to take a photo of the lighthouse!)

Beach/Swimming

Myers Marine Park

Myer Marine Park is a great place to cool off on a hot summer day. There are lifeguards during the summer.

Marina

Myers Marine Park

This is a great place to launch your boat. Although there is a fee to launch, it is quite reasonable, especially compared to other launches.

Launch Fee: $6 per launch for Lansing residents

                        $8 per launch for non-residents

Seasonal launch Permits: $50 for Lansing residents ($40 for Lansing Senior Citizens)

                         $70 for non-Lansing residents ($60 for non-Lansing Senior Citizens).

Picnic Facilities & Playgrounds

Myers Marine Park

The park has an endless number of picnic facilities, including grills and pavilions (that are available for rental). If you are just looking to enjoy a picnic in the park, there are tons of picnic tables with grills that are available on a first come, first serve basis located around the park.

Camping

There are 20 RV-sized campsites located at Myers Park. Each site has electricity, a picnic table, a fire ring, wifi, and a water hook-up. Each site allows users the ability to back in and is handicap accessible.

Bandstand – Music in the Park

Myers Marine Park

There is a bandstand at Myers Park, and visitors can enjoy a free concert every Thursday night in July and August.

Paddle-N-More

Myers Marine Park

Don’t worry if you don’t have a boat; you can still get out on the water here. Paddle-N-More has Kayak, Canoe, and Paddleboard rentals and guided trips available. You can book online.

Salt Point Natural Area

Salt Point Natural Area

This park is quite literally right next door and a lovely natural area. This is a beautiful place to walk with trails and a large expanse of lakeshore.

There is an railroad and railroad bridge between the two parks. I don’t know if this railroad is still running, but please use extreme caution if decide to cross the railroad. (We do not encourage reckless or dangerous behavior.)

Admission and Fees

While the park is free to Lansing Residents, there is a $7/car fee for non-residents.
