Havana Glen

Havana Glen is a little bit of heaven in Montour Falls. The South end of Seneca Lake is full of waterfalls and deep glens that offer exceptional hiking experiences. This park is a great chance to avoid the Watkins Glen crowds and get a little closer to nature and her natural beauty.

Hiking

The trail here is somewhat reminiscent of the nearby Watkins Glen, cut into the gorge, although on a smaller scale and minus the immense crowds. The walk through the glen is not long (about 1/4 mile) nor particularly strenuous, easy for small children but definitely not stroller friendly or handicap accessible due to the staircase near the entrance of the trail. There is a rope barrier that lines the trail to keep people from crossing over into the creek.

The trail winds around the gorge walls and you can’t help but marvel at the splendid rock formations cut by the creek thousands of years before. The trail opens up at the end into a huge open area of the creek where visitors can get a great view of Eagle Cliff Falls.

Eagle Cliff Falls

Eagle Cliff Falls is a gorgeous cascade that plummets in a straight drop approximately 41-foot drop. This is an exceptional photo worth destination. There is lots of room for people to spread out and enjoy the coolness of the creek. I’ve seen lots of photos of families with towels spread across the rocks and enjoying the cool water together in the serenely beautiful surroundings.

Camping and Picnicking

Havana Glen has a small campground with 14 trailer sites (with electric) and 10 tent sites. Visitors can reserve a site by calling the Montour Falls Town Clerk’s Office – 607-535-9476.

If you are looking to stay during a Holiday, Event, or Race weekend a deposit is required.

Havana Glen has 3 large picnic pavilions as well as numerous picnic shelters. Visitors can reserve pavilions for events and parties by contacting the Montour Falls Town Clerk – 607-535-9476

The pavilions and picnic shelters all have charcoal grills and are in close proximity to the gorge.

Fees

There is a $2.00 fee for parking at Havana Glen. This is done on the honor system where visitors place to $2.00 cash in the cash box at the entrance.
