I absolutely love 1000 Island River Rat Cheese! They offer a wide variety of delicious cheeses. During our recent visit to the Thousand Islands, we made sure to stop by their store in Clayton. If you’re a cheese lover, this is a must-visit destination.
Visiting The Store
At the 1000 Island River Rat Cheese Store, you will be amazed by the vast selection of cheese. They offer a wide variety of cheddar cheese, including some unique options, as well as international cheeses and cheese curds. When I say a wide variety, I’m not joking. There are cheddar cheeses here that you won’t find anywhere else, such as Pumpkin Spice, Spicy Bacon, Toasted Onion, Blueberry Cheddar, Mango Fire, Tequila Lime, and Hickory Smoked Cheddar just to name a few. Along with cheese, you can also find other items such as summer sausage, maple syrup, and coffee.
There is a large assortment of candy and snacks, many of which I haven’t seen in years, bringing back fond memories of my childhood. If you are a big fan of River Rat Cheese, you can also purchase souvenir t-shirts, hoodies, and hats.
If you’re interested in the cheese packaging process, you’ll be delighted to know that you can watch it happen right before your eyes! Head to the back of the store and look through the window to catch a glimpse of the skilled workers packaging the cheese with care and precision.
Of course, we grabbed ourselves several blocks of cheese, you know, when in Rome and all that. I also treated myself to a block of their 20-year-old cheddar cheese. It is one of the best cheddar cheeses I’ve ever had.
