From September through October, fun, spooky, and festive events are happening all over New York State. I have tried to hunt down as many events as possible to make the spookiest time of year even spookier. Here are the family fun and screamtastic events happening in the Albany/Capital Region.

Corn Maze at Samascott Garden Market

Explore this 7-acre corn maze.

Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times. 

Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash at all times.

Haunted Saratoga Ghost Tours

Come walk with us and discover the ghosts of Haunted Saratoga. Hear the stories that have lived on in our city for hundreds of years. The will enchant, entertain, and perhaps even scare you. Our 90-minute long walking tour will take you in search of the countless ghosts rumored to haunt the city. Total walking distance is less than a mile, covered at a very leisurely pace so that you can enjoy the Saratoga’s many infamous ghosts and haunted locations.

We are very respectful of the spirits we will encounter along the way. You will hear about and perhaps even meet Old Smoke who, it is said, haunts the old Canfield Casino, Angeline, known as the Witch of Saratoga, Hattie, who has been known to make appearances in her restaurant since her passing and several other spirits.

For acres of fun fall activities in Saratoga County, visit Ellms Family Farm – just a short drive from Albany, Clifton Park, and Saratoga Springs. Witch Walk SOSA | Downtown Saratoga Springs

The Witch Walk & Dance is a fundraiser/benefit to raise donations to support animal organizations. The event has brought over 500 participants and thousands of dollars in donations for animal charities and revenue to the local businesses by encouraging folks to put together their most imaginative “witchy attire” and decorate the streets with their beautiful hats, brooms, and costumes all for an amazing cause.

Zombie Zip-Lining

This tour is not for faint of heart. Your nightmare begins with a corpse-guided tour along a serial killer infested forest to then be hauled into the trees among complete, utter horror. Once in the trees you will be launched in complete darkness … alone, afraid and vulnerable … along a screaming steel cable hundreds of feet along Mountain Ridge Adventure’s awesome Zip Line Park.

Imagine being alone 70+’ in the air, in total blackness, not knowing how long the zip line is or when it will end, to then be caught by an evil ZOMBIE as you land in horror. But wait … Mountain Ridge Adventure’s zip line park has 10 zip lines. After your first fright flight on zip line #1 you will be begging for mercy but by the time you reach zip line #10 you just may have to change your clothes (diapers available upon request).
