From September through October, fun, spooky, and festive events are happening all over New York State. I have tried to hunt down as many events as possible to make the spookiest time of year even spookier. Here are the family fun and screamtastic events happening in the Albany/Capital Region.

Corn Maze at Samascott Garden Market
Explore this 7-acre corn maze.

Haunted Saratoga Ghost Tours
Come walk with us and discover the ghosts of Haunted Saratoga. Hear the stories that have lived on in our city for hundreds of years. The will enchant, entertain, and perhaps even scare you. Our 90-minute long walking tour will take you in search of the countless ghosts rumored to haunt the city. Total walking distance is less than a mile, covered at a very leisurely pace so that you can enjoy the Saratoga’s many infamous ghosts and haunted locations.
We are very respectful of the spirits we will encounter along the way. You will hear about and perhaps even meet Old Smoke who, it is said, haunts the old Canfield Casino, Angeline, known as the Witch of Saratoga, Hattie, who has been known to make appearances in her restaurant since her passing and several other spirits.

Halloween Ghost Tours of Canfield Casino
Are you ready for a spine-tingling adventure? Step into the Canfield Casino, Saratoga Springs’ most haunted and historic landmark, for a Halloween experience you’ll never forget!

Ellms Fall Family Fun
For acres of fun fall activities in Saratoga County, visit Ellms Family Farm – just a short drive from Albany, Clifton Park, and Saratoga Springs. Take a scenic ride on the Pumpkin Express, find the perfect pumpkin in our pick-your-own pumpkin patch, or let loose in the jump park. From the corn mazes to the cider donuts, there’s truly something for everyone at Ellms.

New York State Capitol Hauntings Tour

Witch Walk SOSA | Downtown Saratoga Springs
The Witch Walk & Dance is a fundraiser/benefit to raise donations to support animal organizations. The event has brought over 500 participants and thousands of dollars in donations for animal charities and revenue to the local businesses by encouraging folks to put together their most imaginative “witchy attire” and decorate the streets with their beautiful hats, brooms, and costumes all for an amazing cause.

Double M Haunted Hayrides & Haunted Houses
Welcome to the Capital District’s #1 Haunted Attraction!
Double M Haunted Hayrides has been creating fear for over 30 years in Upstate New York! We are the Capital District’s only haunted hayride and one of the longest running haunted hayrides in New York!
Scary Harry, the iconic ghost cowboy of Double M, has a horrifying experience awaiting you yet again this year. Your journey will begin with a true Haunted Hayride on a tractor-drawn wagon, winding through the dark woods that are rumored to be filled with spirits and creatures of unimaginable beings. At the conclusion of the hayride, your journey will continue on foot into Brutality, a post-apocalyptic compound. If you escape Brutality, our brand new attraction Blood Moon Farm awaits you – watch for what lurks among the rows. Next up is The Last Inn, a residence that is known for a disappearing guest or two and a vicious staff. Then enter the land where every holiday is cursed – Fear All Year. Your final destination is Slaughter Swamp, a dangerous environment straight out of the bayou. The screams continue in the midway area with our interactive Feartainment.

Ghost of Saratoga Guided Trolley Tour
Saratoga, including the second floor of the famed Canfield Casino. Pursue the stories of Saratoga that make the city a portal of paranormal activity. Led by local historian Charlie Kuenzel, the stories are derived from research by noted ghost hunter David Pitkin and other paranormal investigators. Get on board for a fun filled evening of eerie entertainment! Join us if you dare! Due to the macabre material, this tour is recommended for adults only. Zombie Zip-Lining
This tour is not for faint of heart. Your nightmare begins with a corpse-guided tour along a serial killer infested forest to then be hauled into the trees among complete, utter horror. Once in the trees you will be launched in complete darkness … alone, afraid and vulnerable … along a screaming steel cable hundreds of feet along Mountain Ridge Adventure’s awesome Zip Line Park.
Imagine being alone 70+’ in the air, in total blackness, not knowing how long the zip line is or when it will end, to then be caught by an evil ZOMBIE as you land in horror. But wait … Mountain Ridge Adventure’s zip line park has 10 zip lines. After your first fright flight on zip line #1 you will be begging for mercy but by the time you reach zip line #10 you just may have to change your clothes (diapers available upon request).
