We discovered Sunset View Creamery while planning our Finger Lakes Cheese Trail adventure, and it turned out to be one of our favorite stops! Located in Odessa, NY, this family-run dairy farm is an absolute gem! You can tour the farm, cuddle cows (yes, seriously!), and even cross “milking a cow” off your bucket list. Plus, don’t miss the chance to sample their seriously delicious cheeses and fresh milk.

Wander the Farm

First of all, the farm is beautiful, featuring wide open fields, classic red barns, and plenty of friendly cows just relaxing. You can either take a self-guided tour or schedule a guided one to learn about the day-to-day operations of the farm. Also, be sure not to miss the chance to meet the adorable baby calves. They are incredibly friendly and enjoy having their chins and necks rubbed and scratched, and they gave us lots of kisses.

Yes, You Can Cuddle a Cow (or Milk One)

Hands down, the highlight of the day was cow cuddling. These cows are total sweethearts — calm, gentle, and happy to just chill with you. Honestly, they were like giant puppies. Whether you’re scratching behind their ears or snuggling up next to them, it’s the most peaceful, feel-good experience ever. It’s honestly hard to be stressed when you’re hugging a cow!

Ever wanted to milk a cow? At Sunset View Creamery, you’ll get the chance to roll up your sleeves and jump right in for a fun, hands-on experience you’ll always remember! Their friendly staff will guide you through the process, making it easy, memorable, and a whole lot of fun!

Tips for visiting:
- If you have long hair, you will likely want to pull it back, unless you don’t mind cows munching on it.
- You are required to wear closed-toed shoes, and I also recommend wearing clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty, especially if you plan to sit down in the hay. They keep the cuddle area very clean, but keep in mind that these are still cows, and they behave like cows do.
- You can book your cow cuddle or milking experience online on the Sunset View Creamery Website.

Taste the Cheese (and the Milk!)

After spending some time with the cows, be sure to stop by the farm store for tastings of their cheeses and milk. The cheeses are made right on the farm using milk from their own cows, and they’re absolutely delicious—choices include cheddar, gouda, and smoked havarti. Don’t miss out on the milk either; it’s fresh, creamy, and far superior to anything you’ll find at a grocery store. We tried their chocolate milk, and it was easily the best chocolate milk I’ve ever had in my life.
