Red Top Hot Dogs – Hamburg, NY | Adventures in New York

We stumbled upon this delicious hot dog stand when we visited the area to see the frozen houses on Lake Erie over the winter. This is a neat little place that is great for a quick meal or a place to meet up with family and enjoy getting together under their covered picnic area.

Over 75 Years of Excellence

It is rare to find a restaurant that claims that they have been around for 75 years. Red Top Hot Dogs has this longevity not just because of its amazing food and shakes but the friendly service. The staff made us feel like we were more like friends than customers when we visited. They even asked and gave us some great recommendations for places to visit. There is lots of outdoor seating that offers the option of sitting in both the shade and the sun. This hot dog joint has the ambiance of a bygone era, like stepping back in time.

Delicious Food at Affordable Prices

Nowadays, you walk into any fast food restaurant, and you end up spending an arm and a leg, and you’re not even guaranteed a decent meal. The food at Red Top is not only completely delicious but so reasonably priced. We got two hot dogs (one a chili cheese dog) and a hamburger, and we couldn’t believe how cheap it was. We thought they hadn’t heard our order right at first.

One of the things I really loved was the condiment bar. (I hate when restaurants put your topping on for you.) They use the best quality ingredients and cook over a charcoal grill. A cooking technique most restaurants have abandoned. Incidentally, when you visit, make sure that you stop at the ATM. They only accept cash.
