This beautiful waterfall park has undergone a massive facelift over the last year or so. We first visited Delphi Falls in the fall of 2019 and fell in love with this beautiful park. It was very simple back then, with the original residence at the entrance of the park and a flat gravel path leading to the falls. Today, this park is being transformed into a haven for waterfall chasers.
History
The park was originally opened in 2018 and was partially donated by a retired Syracuse University professor. This was a private residence, but the owners truly felt that the beauty of this idyllic location needed to be shared with everyone. Can you imagine living here? I was bowled over that someone would be so generous as to donate such a gorgeous property rather than sell it for a vast sum of money.
Rim Trail and Overlooks
Until recently, only the lower falls were accessible to visitors. With the new updates to the park comes a trail that leads to three scenic overlooks and, for the first time, the Upper Falls. This trail is about 1/2 mile long and has lots of steps, but the trail is laid out in such a way that the elevation change isn’t too difficult, and the scenic views come at just the right times to allow visitors to catch their breath.
View #1 – Lower Falls
The first overlook is of the Lower Falls from above. This is a perfect birdseye view of this waterfall.
View #2 – Upper Falls
The view of the Upper Falls is some what obscurded by the trees and a little further in the distance than the Lower Fall, but still beautiful.
View #3 – Top of Upper Falls
This overlook area is above the falls and more a view of the creek. The best view of the falls is actually from the stairs where you can see a bridal veil of the waterfall as fall straight down over the edge.
Lower Falls Trail
This area is under construction and currently closed to the public. It is scheduled to be open in the Summer of 2024.
What We Know So Far
From what I’ve read and seen, the trail with be handicap accessible (which it was previously). The old residence has been demolished and a brand new ADA accessible visitor center is being built in its place. Year round bathroom facilities will be available as well.

Chittenango Falls State Park
Chittenango Falls is a seriously impressive waterfall with multiple viewing areas. The waterfall is 167 feet tall and is comprised of a series of drops to form an awe-inspiring view from the bottom.
The Wild Animal Park
This is one of the best zoos in the state. There are so many interactive experiences available throughout the year.
Green Lake State Park
Typically, the lakes of New York State will seasonally turnover, meaning that the different layers within the lakes will mix together. This is not the case with Green Lake which is a meromictic lake. Meromictic lakes are quite rare and one of the distinct things that set Green Lake and Round Lake apart from other lakes in New York State.
