You know how they say, “never judge a book by its cover?” Well, that should apply to restaurants as well. From the outside, it was hard to tell what to expect from Captain Jack’s. Step inside and suddenly you are in a colorful restaurant and bar that looks like it would be at home on a Florida beach. We weren’t disappointed that we decided to give this place a try.

Delicious Food
Obviously, the quality of the food is always first and foremost on our mind when we decide to check out a restaurant. I love eating and trying different foods, and occasionally I am delighted to find a menu filled with foods that make my mouth water. I love being overwhelmed with delectable sounding choices and Captain Jack’s happens to have just this kind of menu.
Captain Jack’s menu is extensive. They serve everything from relaxing comfort food, sandwiches, and burgers to all sorts of delicious seafood, chicken dishes, and prime rib. If you like seafood, I can guarantee Captain Jacks’s will be your new favorite restaurant. I love lobster and found myself in quite a conundrum as I perused the menu, as there were several different lobster dishes to choose from. I decide on the lobster bisque and I was blown away by its scrumptiousness. I think this was without a doubt the best lobster bisque I’ve ever eaten. The buttery bisque not only melted in my mouth but had enormous chunks of lobsters swimming in it. I have no doubt that I will be back for another bowl of this bisque real soon.
My husband ordered a cheeseburger. He is one of those people who like their steaks and burgers cooked by “walking it through a warm room.” He asked for it to be rare, something that you can’t always get at a restaurant. He was surprised and thrilled that his burger came out to his exact specifications.
Great Ambiance
You can either have a seat at the bar or one of the many tables through the immaculate establishment. The restaurant has lots of room for patrons to spread out. If you don’t want to sit in the heart of the restaurant and are looking to have a little more privacy, you can do just that.
The restaurant is open year-round, but summertime is when it’s really hopping. There is a tiki bar upstairs that is open during the warmer weather. You can definitely pick up on the theme of the restaurant. Colorful t-shirts, fishing poles, and brick-a-brack cover the walls and ceiling of the restaurant, giving it a fun, carefree feeling. If you happen to be on your boat in the bay, you can park your boat at their dock and come in for some yummy food.
We visited in the winter and had no problem getting a table. However, I can imagine that as the weather improves, this restaurant can get extremely busy, especially on the weekends. While we were able to just walk in, Captain Jack’s recommend calling ahead for a reservation, especially for dinner. They also have a waterfront banquet room that can be rented for special events.
Friendly Service and Excellent Prices
The backbone of any restaurant is its staff. The people running a restaurant can make or break an entire dining experience. Captain Jack’s makes a point of hiring friendly, out-going, and experienced staff. We were exceptional please with the service we received. Our server was very attentive and friendly. She made us feel like we were taken care of without feeling like she was hoovering.
When you visit Captian Jack’s Good Time Tavern, don’t forget to take a look at their little souvenir shop. They have shirts, hoodies, glasses, shot glasses, and Captain Jack’s signature sauces. Take a minute to snap some photos of the kids with the statue of Captain Jack.
Captain Jack’s have either live music or a DJ every single weekend all year long. With daily meal specials throughout the week, everyday something great is happening at Captain Jack’s Good Time Tavern.
We were surprised by the small size of our bill compared to the quantity & quality of our food. We definitely felt that we received great value for our money. That is not something you get very often. Overall we were extremely pleased with our visit and already have plans to stop in again when we are in the area.
