I am not gentle with my clothing, especially in the great outdoors. I had heard about how Kuhl clothing was made for ruggedness but I guess I needed to see it for myself to believe it. I was given a pair of Kuhl Renegade Cargo Convertible Hiking Pants to try out and I was genuinely surprised with how far these pants outranked traditional hiking pants.
Ease of Movement
What impressed me the most about these pants was how easily I could move in them. Often, when climbing over rocks and uneven ground, my normal hiking pants will impede my range of motion. These pants not only had a unique stretch to them, while being uniformly fitting, but they also gave me leeway to really move my body in all directions, including crouching, without being obstructed by the material.
Sturdy Material
The cut and design of the Kuhl Renegade Cargo Convertible Pants are clearly superior to the run-of-the-mill hiking pants available. The material is made for roughing it. However, what makes these pants stand out above other hiking pants is that even though they are made of the studiest and strongest material imaginable, they have an amazing softness to them. The craziest part is just how lightweight these pants are.
Convertible
Another awesome feature of the Kuhl Renegade Cargo Convertible Pants is how they convert to shorts. I have seen pants like this before and they were if I’m being honest, ugly and obvious. The design of these pants cleverly hides the zipper under a seam. They zip off easily and reattach just as easily.
Deep Pockets
The pockets of these pants are some of the best I’ve seen on any pants. Not just the back and hip pockets, but the cargo pockets. The cargo pockets have hidden pockets within them. One side has a smaller pocket inside, while the other side has a zipper pocket which provides double the security.
It might sound cynical, but it isn’t often that my expectations are exceeded, so when it does happen, I can’t help but feel elated. These Kuhl Renegade Cargo Convertible Pants are everything I could ask for in hiking pants and then some.
I received KÜHL apparel for this review at no cost. I received no other compensation for this post. All opinions are my own.
