I am a sucker for good BBQ, and I will drive to the ends of the earth to get it. So I could hardly contain my excitement when I stumbled across Angry Charlie’s Smokehouse BBQ. Their menu takes BBQ to a whole other level with delicious food that you are unlikely to find anywhere else. We recently stopped in for lunch, and I can’t wait to go back and try some more of their delectable food.

BBQ Galore!
Of course, there are many different types of BBQ, more than I ever realized, and they each have their unique flavor. Angry Charlie’s specializes in Eastern North Carolina BBQ.
Deciding what I would order from Angry Charlie’s was no easy feat; there were so many tempting choices. After much back and forth, my husband and I decided to split one of their pizzas. Now before you roll your eyes and think, “Pizza? Why pizza? You are at a BBQ restaurant! What is wrong with you?” …Let me tell you about this pizza. It’s a 9” pizza piled high with BBQ pull pork, smoked mac n’ cheese, bacon, and cheddar cheese. It is nothing short of incredible. I am relatively confident that this is the ambrosia the Greek gods ate.
Clean and Inviting Atmosphere
We ordered our food for take-out, but the restaurant has a charming dining area for people who want to dine in. There is also a bar where patrons can enjoy some liquid libations while they wait for their take-out order or an open table. The friendly staff was the best part of our visit to Angry Charlie’s. We found them to be very helpful and pleasant. I personally believe that you can always tell a lot about the quality of a restaurant by the demeanor of the staff.
As BBQ restaurants go (or any restaurant, for that matter, these days), I think the prices were extremely reasonable. Our pizza was the perfect amount of food for the two of us, and considering the sheer weight of it, under the immense amount of toppings, it was a total bargain.
When I find a good restaurant, I always hope that I will get a chance to go back and enjoy their food and ambiance again. In the case of Angry Charlie’s, it is definitely a pinky promise that we’ll be headed back. I have a list of dishes on their extensive menu that I’m dying to try. If you find yourself in the Batavia area, do yourself a favor and grab a bite to eat at this restaurant. I promise you won’t regret it.
