Visiting the wineries of the Finger Lakes is more than just about the wine. It is about the ambiance of the beautifully landscaped vineyard, being near the Lake, and just about being in wine country surrounded by grape vines in the distance. Buttonwood Grove Winery really struck a chord with us. Of all the wineries we have visited, there was something special about this winery. It was everything I imagined a Finger Lake winery to be.
(Full Disclosure-We make it a point to never tell anyone at any restaurant that we are Adventures in New York because we want to have the same experience you would have when visiting.)

Wine Slushies & Wine Tasting
We love wine slushies! They are simply scrumptious. As delicious as these drinks are, you would think they would be available at more wineries. Unfortunately, they haven’t caught on everywhere… yet. We have made it our mission to hunt down all the wineries that offer wine slushies.
Buttonwood keeps their slushies simple. One size and one flavor. The day we visited, they served blackberry wine slushies, which was nothing short of delicious.
Buttonwood Grove has a beautiful tasting room, but you aren’t required to sit there to enjoy one of their tastings. Guests can partake in tasting while enjoying the view of Cayuga Lake from their porch. Tastings include five different wines, one selected by the server and then four others of the guest’s choosing.
Explore the Grounds & Outdoor Seating
The grounds really separate this vineyard from others we have visited. The property is massive, beautiful, and has so many places to spread out, relax, and enjoy your wine or slushie, as we did. There are exquisite gardens around the building and along the path. When we visited, they were all in bloom, and some of the plants had gorgeous flowers as big as saucers.
My favorite spot was the pergola in front of the pond. It was so pretty and peaceful, with grapevines growing through the pergola with actual grapes hanging from them.
Stay in the Cabins
Another thing that sets this vineyard apart are the four luxury cabins available for rental. Guests can stay right on the vineyard property. Guest who book a stay receive a complimentary tasting.

Vanriper Conservation Area & Whitlock Nature Preserve
On Cayuga Lake, we found this beautiful nature preserve. The VanRiper Conservation Area and Whitlock Nature Preserve is a small but enchanting stretch of forest that takes visitors down to the lakeshore.
