Camping in the Thousand Islands is something everyone should do a least once, and there are definitely lots of options to choose from. Each campground is vastly different from the next. Giving campers lots to choose from to meet each person’s personal preferences. Cedar Point State Park has lots of campsites for Thousand Islands Campers, with a boat launch and beach to really enjoy the entire Thousand Islands experience.

Camping

There are 179 campsites at Cedar Point State Park, which is rather impressive considering how small the park is compared to some of its counterparts. The sites here vary in size but overall but for the most part, they pack them in pretty tight. If you don’t mind being far away from the water, the sites near the entrance are larger and more wooded. There are a few sites near the water, but otherwise, there is nothing overly special about a majority of the campsites at Cedar Point.

Beach

There is a nice sandy beach here that has lifeguards posted. There is also a long stretch of waterfront sidewalk that guests can walk, or sit at one of the numerous benches and watch the boats sail by on the St. Lawrence River.

Boating & Fishing

The is a boat launch and dockage available for those planning to take advantage of the park’s location on the St. Lawrence River. There is an extra fee to dock your boat overnight. There are lots of places to fish off the shore here and seems like people have a lot of luck reeling in some good catches.

Other Places to Visit

Robert Wehle State Park

Robert G. Wehle is one of those state parks where first impressions can be deceiving. Upon first glance, this park looks like any other dog-friendly park, but venture a ways into this park and you will be greeted with the most stunning beauty, cliffs that have been artistically carved by the wind and water from Lake Ontario.

El Dorado Beach Preserve

This is an amazing place to visit. As we strolled along this spectacular beach, we felt like we had been magically transported to the Caribbean. This is a highly protected conservation area, so you will need to be exceptionally careful not to disturb the fragile environment around you.
