Situated between the cities of Rochester and Buffalo is the small town of Perry, perched on the shores of picturesque Silver Lake. For over 50 years, the Silver Lake Drive-in has made summertime magic for families with drive-in movies. The charcoal Corral was built in 1977, with the miniature golf course, ice cream shop, and arcade added later. This establishment has been the go-to destination for summertime family fun in Wyoming County for years.
(Full Disclosure-We make it a point to never tell anyone at any restaurant that we are Adventures in New York because we want to have the same experience you would have when visiting.)
Silver Lake Twin Drive-In
The Silver Lake Drive-In was purchased by Jake Stefanon in 1966, who turn a derelict drive-in theater into a family fun hot spot. Though it wasn’t until 2000 when the second screen was added making it a “twin drive-in.” When my kids were very little this was my favorite way to see a movie. You can’t bring a baby into a movie theater but you can definitely enjoy a movie from your car, and have your baby nap comfortably. Drive-in movies are a great idea for little ones who have lots of energy and like to talk through movies. Bonus, you get to see two movies for the price of one. Come early for the movie to enjoy all the other fun family activities at the Charcoal Corral.
Charcoal Corral
Have the hankering to wrestle up some grum, then mosey on over to the Charcoal Corral where they have you covered with the best food around. Enjoy different themed evenings and weekly specials, such as Monday night Southwest BBQ. The Charcoal Corral even has gluten-free menu items on request. The pizzeria has a loaded menu that offers both eat-in and carry-out.
Cruise Nights
Car lovers will love the Cruise Nights every Thursday (beginning May 9th). This is one of the best car shows in western New York. These evenings are free to visitors and you have the chance to win movie tickets, t-shirts, and miniature golf passes.
Concert Series
Enjoy a different free concert every Tuesday night on the Charcoal Corral stage. Dance the night away with family and friends to great tunes from local artists.
Miniature Golf and Corral Mining Co.
Summer isn’t summer until you have played a round of mini-golf. Kids will go nuts over this fun western theme 18-hole course. Afterward, they can enjoy the brand-new 40-foot mining sluice. Little prospectors can mine for gemstones, fossils, arrowheads, and shark teeth. This isn’t just fun but educational. Each little miner is given a collection bag and a map that shows where their treasure originated from. Finish up with some delicious ice cream from the ice cream parlor.
Giant Western Themed Inflatables
Bring the kids for lots of bouncing fun on Fridays and Saturdays (weather permitting) at 6 pm. Kids must be at least 3’4″ to enjoy this western-themed fun. There is an extra fee for this.
In addition to the inflatables, there is always some sort of family fun activity happening on the Charcoal Corral stage.
Other Information
They do not accept Credit Cards, however, there are ATMs on the premises.
