Seneca Lake is a waterfall lover’s dream destination. Drive down the east side of the Lake and you will see some of the most beautiful waterfalls like this one, Glen Eldridge Falls.
Roadside Waterfall
Seeing this waterfall couldn’t be any easier, it is right on the side of the road. It is a gorgeous wavy gorge that meanders down the hill, creating several falls. You can only view the falls from the road as the falls are on private property, so descending the hillside and getting a closer look is out of the question.
Due to the number of wineries on the east side of the Lake, Route 414 is a heavily traveled road; you will need to be pulled way off the road. There is a dirt road that runs parallel with the falls. I recommend parking on the side of that road rather than the heavily traveled Route 414.
Important: This waterfall is located right along the highway (where traffic is traveling at 55 miles/hour.) Please use extra caution when visiting this waterfall as you will be right along the highway. Please use caution and be aware of both vehicle and pedestrian traffic at Glen Eldridge Falls.

Catherine Creek Wildlife Management Area
This one is a bit of a hidden gem. Not many people are aware of this wild spot hidden at the end of Seneca Lake. There is only a narrow dirt road that leads down to the wildlife management area, so as I said, aside from local fishermen, it remains almost unknown to the rest of the state. However, if you take the opportunity to explore, you will find an amazing place to hike, and kayak and also find a hidden waterfall.
Best Places to Enjoy Winter in Western New York
I was never a huge fan of winter, until I really got out and started exploring in the wintertime, I was astonished to discover that I actually love winter in New York. There is so much beauty that I had failed to notice and getting out into nature see the unique colors and landscapes that winter brings.
