The main attraction of many of the state parks in the Thousand Islands is their access to the St. Lawrence River. Grass Point State Park is a great place to experience the Thousand Islands. The Point on which it sits jets out into the St. Lawrence, making it a perfect boating and camping destination.
Camping
Like most of the campgrounds in the Thousand Island, the campsites here are open and lack privacy. This is a small state park with only 72 campsites and 1 two-story cottage. There are 14 waterfront sites, 6 of these have direct access to the water by the docks. That makes this an excellent place to moor your boat if you want to sail on the St. Lawrence River.
Boating
Grass Point State Park’s position on the St. Lawrence River makes it a great place to launch a boat. There is a concrete ramp and 8 individual boat slips. You can see the Thousand Island Bridge that leads to Wellesley Island, from the boat launch at Grass Point. Kids will love watching the gigantic ships that sail up and down the St. Lawrence River.
Beach
There is a great beach here that is set in a cove, protected from the rushing waters of the St. Lawrence River. This is also an excellent area for paddlers to put in and enjoy canoeing or kayaking in the River. There is also a playground and picnic area.

Wellesley Island State Park
Wellesley Island State Park is one of the most beautiful parks we have visited in New York State. It is perched right on the St. Lawrence River, and we found that the camping, boating, and hiking here are really second to none.
