Harriet Hollister Spencer State Recreation Area, or just Spencer Park as it is known to locals, has one of the best views in all the Finger Lakes. This view draws people from far and wide to come and appreciate the sheer beauty of seeing Honeoye Lake from the top of one of the surrounding hills. The park offers other great things to offer visitors in addition to the incredible view.

View of Honeoye Lake
As previously stated, this park has a fantastic view of Honeoye Lake and it is a favorite meditation place for people to come, sit and take in the breathtaking vista. There are two benches situated to provide the best perspective. This scenic vista is also a place that is a popular place to take photographs of Honeoye Lake. No matter what the season, this view is perfect. Each season offers something different and gorgeous.
Trails
Hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling are all popular activities at Spencer Park. There are miles of trails throughout the Park. The trails are clearly marked and you can view a map here. Even though this seems to be a favorite destination for people to get out and enjoy the beauty of the Canadice Hills, in all the years of coming to this park, I rarely see other people when hiking.
In the wintertime, there are lots of cross-country ski competitions held in the park. Harriet Hollister Spencer Park is also a great destination for geo-caching. Geo-caching is a GPS location activity where people use an app on their phones to find objects hidden in different locations.
Dog-Friendly
Harriet Hollister Spencer State Recreation Area is a dog-friendly park. It is always nice to see people walking their dogs along the road in the park. The park requires that you carry proof of rabies vaccination and a maximum of 2 dogs are allowed. Dogs must be leashed and supervised at all times. Leashes must be no longer than 6 feet long and of course, this goes without saying, owners must pick up after their pets.
Picnicking
There are numerous picnic tables with grills in the park. There are restrooms located at the entrance to the park as well as at the end of the park where the picnic facilities are located. There is lots of open space in the picnic area for families to play games like kickball or baseball. Be aware that there is no running water in the park, and the bathrooms are pit toilets.
Amazing Fall Foliage
There is quite literally no better place to see amazing fall foliage than Harriett Hollister Spencer Park, not just in the park itself but also in the trees surrounding Honeoye Lake below. On a sunny autumn day, the hills surrounding the lake are just bursting with color. Even the road down to the lookout is covered in a canopy of colorful leaves.
Wintertime
In the wintertime, the gate to the entrance of the park is closed. Even though the gates are closed, the park is still open. The main road into the park is used for cross-country skiing. You can still walk to the overlook, which is approximately 1/2 a mile from the entrance.
