It was definitely the name of this park that first intrigued us, Forever Wild Forest. Who wouldn’t love that! But the question was, did it live up to the hype? I am happy to report that this was a fantastic hiking destination. We visited in the early spring before the trees had any leaves, and it was absolutely gorgeous.

Trails
With several miles of winding trails through some truly beautiful woods, this is an amazing place to explore. This park backs up to the Whiting Road Nature Preserve, and many of the trails connect the two parks. The terrain here is quite hilly, nothing too strenuous, but definitely not flat.
What I like most about Herman Road Forever Wild Forest is that it really did live up to its name. Even in the early spring, when there was nothing but bare trees, this place was absolutely gorgeous. It made me insanely curious to see what it would look like in the Summer.
We returned in the Summer, and it was even better than I imagined. The green leaves of summer make an already beautiful place even more gorgeous. As I said before, this place really lives up to its name. I really appreciate the well-marked trails at this preserve, especially after some of the other parks we’ve visited recently. We can see the amount of work that is continuously occurring at this ever-expanding park; every visit there are new trails and boardwalks.
Cycling
On our last visit, we came across a group of cyclist who looked like they were having the time of their lives. The ever-changing topography makes this a fantastic destination for mountain biking, plus there are literally miles of trails between Herman Road Forever Wild Forest and Whiting Road Trail.
Out and About With Nova
This was a great outing for Nova. She loves the woods and had a blast bounding up and down the hills and smelling all sorts of new spring scents. This is a dog-friendly destination, but your four-legged friends MUST be leashed. You can’t always see what is coming around the corner, and with cyclists sharing the trail, it is vital you have control over your dog.
**Please clean up after your pet! This is a carry in/carry out park… So make sure you take it home with you to dispose of it.**
Also, please remember to clean up after your dog! This is a carry-in/carry-out park, so also make sure to “cart it away” with you.
