Charles E. Sexton Memorial Park, formerly North Ponds Park, is a lovely scenic park in the Town of Webster, just south of Lake Ontario. This park is a great place for families to get back to nature and enjoy some quality time in this gorgeous park.
The Ponds
Years ago, this park was a favorite place to go swimming. While swimming is no longer permitted, The two ponds in the park are perfect for a first-time fishing trip with the kids. There is a dock, or you can fish off the shore. The ponds are also a great place for watching wildlife such as birds.
Multi-functional Path Through the Park
The 1-mile paved path that circles the park is used for walking, jogging, and bicycling, and it is a popular place to walk dogs. The path is also equipped with LifeTrail Fitness Stops at several points along the 1-mile circuit.
This park is also a great place to go snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the winter.
Wildlife
If you are a bird lover, you will love this park. As we walked the paved trail, we saw so many different bird species and their chicks. If you sit quietly on the edge of the pond in the summer, you can see all sorts of dragonflies swooping along the water’s edge.
Autumn Leaves
With all the beautiful trees in this park, especially those along the edges of the ponds, autumn is spectacular here. This is a great destination because the paved path makes it accessible for everyone. You can take a stroll through the park and enjoy the brilliantly colored leaves.
Picnic Facility
This park has lots of picnic tables as well as a pavilion. There are also bathrooms on the premises. This is a great place to enjoy a peaceful family picnic while enjoying the beautiful and natural surroundings.
Out and About with Nova
“I loved this walk because there were so many geese here. There must have been a least a hundred. I really wanted to play with them but mom said ‘No.’ Darn! Good dog etiquette is really important here because there are lots of other dogs walking the path with their people as well. If your dog doesn’t like other dogs or is hard to control around people, this might not be the place for you.”
