Four Mile Creek is a small hiking trail still under development in Town of Webster, NY. This trail has grown considerably over the year. It is a popular place for hiking and fishing. It is the perfect place to visit on a hot day when you can hike the creek and cool down.
The Creek in Four Mile Creek Preserve
One of the great features of Four Mile Creek Preserve is the access to a gorgeous creek. This creek is excellent for both wading and fishing. The creek is shallow in some places to make it a great place to cool off on a hot summer day. We love creek hiking and this creek is perfect for that. Not too deep and easy to navigate.
Four Mile Creek holds the bragging right of being a fantastic place to catch a large variety of freshwater fish, especially several varieties of trout and salmon. However, the Town of Webster promotes catch and release within the Four Mile Creek. If you decide to fish here, make sure you carry your fishing license. The DEC has been known to patrol this area.
The Trails in Four Mile Creek Preserve
Four Mile Creek Preserve continues its expansion. The trails are dirt and like any dirt trail, it can be muddy and slippery after it rains. The trail width varies throughout the park. But for the most part, it is cleared of debris and wide. There is an impressive variety of trees in this preserve. There was a habitat reclamation area within the park that focused on replanting spicebushes (that are native to the area). Spicebushes are the main food of the Spicebush Swallowtail Butterfly Caterpillar, which in time becomes a gorgeous black and blue swallowtail butterfly. This is a nice park in the making. Four Mile Creek Preserve is a great place to visit if you are looking for a nice hike in a quiet and serene place.
