Sandy Bottom Park is located at the north end of Honeoye Lake off West Lake Road. This park is one of the nicest and most multifaceted parks in the area. Sandy Bottoms Park has something for everyone: swimming, fishing, beach volleyball, a picnic pavilion, a small boat launch, and a nature trail. Not to mention the view of the Lake from here is just spectacular.

Sandy Bottom Park Activities
Sandy Bottom Park has a large number of facilities for activities. There is a designated swimming area in the lake that permits swimming when lifeguards are on duty. This area is well-groomed and very safe for small children. Picnic facilities are available, including charcoal grills and a pavilion for parties. Sandy Bottom Park has a modern playground for children of varying ages and a beach volleyball court adjacent to the pavilion.
Sandy Bottom Park Lagoon
There is a small lagoon on the backside of Sandy Bottom Park. This lagoon eventually feeds in Honeoye Creek. This is a popular place for fishing. A large variety of fish can be caught in this pond, including bluegill, sunfish, bullhead, bass, perch, and occasional walleye. This is a fantastic place for young children to learn to fish for the first time. There is lots of shoreline around the lagoon, and it isn’t too deep that you need to worry.
Sandy Bottom Park Nature Trail
The Nature Trail is a very easy hike, and there is much wildlife to see. Small children will need to be watched closely over the water; otherwise, it is a perfect hike for little nature lovers to discover the world around them. There is a boardwalk that covers the marshier parts of the trail. About halfway through, the trail becomes a dirt path. The trail runs across Honeoye Creek in several places. At one point, there is a shallow area where kids can wade around looking for little critters in the water.
This park is quite near and dear to our hearts. We spend a great deal of time as young adults exploring the trails in the park. In recent years, we volunteered to help replant trees in the park.
Sandy Bottom Park Meadow
Further up, the nature trail splits and one trail veers off to the right. This trail leads to a big meadow where deer can frequently be found feeding. You are almost guaranteed to see them in the hours just before dusk. Other small animals can be seen in this meadow as well. It is a nice little addition to the park that offers a change of scenery.
Sandy Bottom Park is open year-round from dawn until dusk. Dogs are allowed in the park, but they must be leashed. Owners must provide proof of rabies vaccination and clean up after them.
