We found this remarkable monument tucked away in the town of Mt. Morris that celebrates the veterans of this county in the most beautiful way, a large 125.5’ X 65’ flag filled with 250 red metal remembrance poppies. A visit to this unique monument brings out the patriot in all of us.
Built For Veterans By Veterans
This monument is unique as veterans created it to celebrate the veterans from Livingston County and veteran organizations. The giant flag monument was a joint venture by members of the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary of Livingston County, and Sons of the American Legion, as well as local veterans.
Visiting The Livingston County Veterans Monument
We visited the monument on a warm, sunny day with a cloudless blue sky and we really couldn’t have picked a better day. It just made the monument that much more beautiful. Visitors can stroll among the poppies and see the individual touches to each one, including the name of a veteran and the time they served. The poppies which vary in height, also swivel and turn to make it appear as though the flag is waving if the wind is blowing. This place is tranquil and it is a beautiful way to remember those who served their country.
