I love waterfalls. Who doesn’t? Fortunately for us waterfall lovers, New York State is full of them. Some of them aren’t massive but they are still pretty and worth a visit. Mill Pond Falls is one of these sorts of waterfalls. The best part is that the falls are super easy to view.

Viewing Mill Pond Falls

Viewing a waterfall really can’t get any easier than from your own vehicle. Which you can absolutely do at this waterfall. If you decide to step out of your car, be mindful of the traffic. Some people will cross the guardrail to get better photos but I don’t recommend this.

This is a small waterfall, and the flow depends greatly on the water table. When we visited, it was flowing but not as full as it normally is. It was also wintertime and the falls were partially frozen. Which honestly made it so much more beautiful, in my opinion.

There is no parking area and I would not recommend parking on the side of the road in front of the waterfall. You can park around the corner and walk back.

The Old Mill

Right around the corner from the falls is another unique destination that might pique your interest. There is the ruin of an old mill that was destroyed by a fire in 1880. You can’t get close to the abandoned structure, It is marked as private property, but you can take pictures of it from the road. The building is in disrepair and extremely unsafe. However, it is neat to see from a distance.

  2. I moved back to Western New York in June of 2014, A couple of months later, I was driving around, just exploring the area and came upon the mill. I stopped and took pictures and also crossed the road to see the waterfalls. What a treasure!!!
