If you drive around Wayne County you will discover beautiful hand-painted murals hidden in plain sight. These enchanting, larger than life paintings capture life in Wayne County and depict many of each town’s history and notable attractions. There are currently 37 murals in Wayne County. Finding all of this mural became a scavenger hunt for us. We are currently tracking down each of these murals so that we could share them with you. This is a list, organized by town, will be continuously updated until we find all 37.
Ontario
This mural is located on the backside of the Ontario Fire Department. It can be seen from the Ontario Public Library parking lot.

Walworth
Located on the side of the Post Office. The gentleman in the mural is Theron G. Yeomans who imported Holstein cattle from Holland which became the preferred breed of dairy cow in this area.

There are several murals located in Ginegaw Park.
The Festival in the Park is located on the side wall of the Lions Club barn.

This mural is located at the Farmer’s Market at the entrance of Ginegaw Park and it changes for summer and winter.

Palmyra
The history of Palmyra is depicted in this enormous mural. From left to right, John Swift, an 1812 brigadier general; the Mud Creek Aqueduct; William T. Sampson, a Spanish American War Rear Admiral in the Navy; the four corner churches -(apparently, Palmyra is the only place in the United States with a different churches at each corners of a major intersection); Olin J. Garlock, the founder of Garlock Packing Company; The Aldrich Change Bridge; Joseph Smith, founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; The Trolley, connected Palmyra with Syracuse and Rochester.

Macedon
This mural is located on the side of a building on Main Street. There is a parking lot right next door where you pull in for a closer look. The mural depicts a turn of the century Macedon and the historic landmarks of the town.

Located in the Lock 30 Canal Park in the very back of the park near the Butterfly Trail.

Sodus Point
Located on the south east corner of old historic Sodus Point Malt House, previously owned by the Genesee Brewing Company.

Three murals can be found on the Sodus Point Fire Department. Two (the one above and the one below) can be found on the West side of the building and one on the east side. The mural above depicts early native Americans (Cayuga and Seneca) fishing near Chimney Bluffs. Sodus (which means silvery waters in the Iroquois language) Bay was where the early native Americans made their summer home for the vast amount of fish and game in the area.
This mural depicts the Battle of Troupville, which was what Sodus Point was called in 1812, when the battle occurred.
There were several safe houses in Sodus Point that were part of the Underground Railroad. This mural depicts men, women, and children getting ready to board a boat bound for freedom in Canada.

Sodus
This mural can be seen from the front of the fire station in Sodus. This mural is a depiction of a turn of the century bandstand and a beautiful summer day.

This one is a little difficult to view because it happens to be in the drive-thru of a coffee shop. This mural depicts historic buildings in the area. The Sodus Bay Lighthouse is shown in this mural.

Clyde
This mural is located on the Clyde Savannah Public Library and depicts the trolley station on around the turn of the century.

This mural commemorates important dates in the towns history and is located on the Clyde Firehouse.

The building this mural is on appears to be an old train station. This mural depicts Abraham Lincoln’s stop in Clyde in February, 1860.

These unique window murals show what the view inside a general store in the 1930’s might look like.

Savannah
This mural is located on the side of the Savannah Bank building. It depicts the land of Savannah through its history. The far right panel shows the wildlife of Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge.

Williamson
Located on the south side of ridge road, on the wall of an Auto Service Shop. There is a place to pull in and get a good look at the mural. This mural is a reflection of Williamson and it’s history.

Located on the east side of the building, there is a parking lot right in front of the mural, where you can pull right up in front of it. This mural celebrates the history of the Williamson Fire Department.

Wolcott
This mural depicts the beauty and landmarks of the town of Wolcott. It is located on the west wall of the Wolcott Palace Theater. The waterfall in the mural, Wolcott Falls, is located right around the corner.

Rose
This mural is located on the south side of the building and it right next to an older mural (below) that looks like it has been there for many years.
