America’s Favorite Dessert Immortalized

This little museum in LeRoy commemorates America’s favorite dessert, Jell-O. It is quite small, and I do mean really small. It is very worth the trip. My children really enjoyed this place. My kids (My 17-year-old, actually) got a sudden urge to go after they started making and eating Jell-O every day during the Christmas break, and I told them Jell-O came from created in LeRoy. They decided we had to go on a visit to the museum.

History in the Basement

This unassuming little museum is located behind the Historic LeRoy House. It is easy to miss if you aren’t paying attention. Once you see the Historic LeRoy House, follow the driveway behind the building to the Jell-O museum.

The basement of the museum has a collection of antique vehicles such as a 1908 Cadillac, carriages, and sleds. The kids enjoyed viewing different types of vehicles and are a great demonstration of how far we have come in terms of transportation.

Happiness in a Dish

Once you get upstairs, you will enter the Jell-O Museum. The staff is super nice and they quickly engaged with my kids. They handed them a scavenger hunt and promised awesome prizes.

The scavenger hunt was a brilliant idea because it made the kids slow down and read each exhibit. It extended our time in the museum and made for a more enjoyable time. Regardless of being teenagers (or thereabouts), my kids had fun doing the scavenger hunt.

A Fun Little Museum

The prizes were indeed really good. My daughter received a nice Jell-O pen and my son opted for some candy. the museum has representations of Jell-O from all over the world. The gift shop had all sorts of fun memorabilia. But of course, my kids bought more Jell-O. Incidentally, they had flavors that we had never seen in the grocery store.

We had the museum to ourselves, which was nice. This is a good place to go on school breaks or snowy weekends. This is an underrated museum that doesn’t get much attention. The admission fee isn’t much, so if you are in the area, this place is worth a visit.
