Journey through this history of glass spanning 3500 years. The gallery has glass from every era of history and shows the technique used to create it. In addition to man-made glass, enjoy glass that was created by nature. See glass from the Roman times, the Islam World, Europe, Asia, and even a special section dedicated to Venetian Glass. Enjoy the whimsical paperweight exhibit that houses the one of largest collections of paperweights in the world.
This portion of the museum is huge. It was almost overwhelming. I honestly couldn’t believe just how many examples of historic glass.
Contemporary Art & Design Gallery
These galleries showcase a diverse selection of over 70 stunning works from the Museum’s permanent collection. This is a fun look at how glass and science interact and give families a chance to play with glass in its various “scientific forms” and usefulness.
