Otisco Lake is the easternmost Finger Lake. There are a lot of charming spots to appreciate the beauty of this small lake. Otisco Lake Park is the perfect place to enjoy a sunny day, and enjoy the peaceful surrounding of this lovely park.
Otisco Lake Park
There are lots of enormous old trees at Otisco Lake Park that line the shore and provide lots of ambiance and shade for visitors. There was something insanely beautiful about this park. This property was a gift to Onondaga County from the Hirsch Family who loved this little bit of “heaven on earth.” There is nothing really “flashy” about this park but this little 3-acre park is truly one of the most serene places we have visited.
Enjoying the Lake
There are benches spread throughout the park that allows visitors the opportunity to sit and enjoy a splendid view of the lake. There isn’t really any sort of beach here but there are rocks along the banks where visitors can walk and wade in the water. This is a good place to launch a kayak or canoe.
Wildlife
There are lots of geese and waterfowl around this park. This is a good place for bird watchers as we saw all kinds of birds here. I would assume that it is due to the fact that the park is so quiet and lacks a lot of human activity around it.

Other Places to Visit
Otisco Lake Causeway
Otisco Lake is one of the smaller Finger Lakes but it has a unique feature that sets it apart from the other Finger Lakes. There is a strip of land that jets across the lake called the Otisco Lake Causeway. Once a road, it was allowed to deteriorate and has now become a place for people to visit or to fish from.
Otisco Lake Preserve
We have visited a few lakeside nature preserve and none of them can hold a candle to the Otisco Lake Preserve. This is a must-visit destination especially if you love relaxing on the beach and taking in the gorgeous scenery.

One of the best parts of living in New York is the abundance of water. We have so many lakes, ponds, rivers, and creeks and many of these are excellent places to put in a canoe or kayak. While there are lots of places to paddle in the Finger Lakes, some of them are truly out of this world.
