Hiking during hunting season can be tricky if you don’t know safe places to hike. I have done some research, and reached out to numerous land trusts, conservancies, and parks to find as many safe hiking trails as possible.
I am continuously updating this list… check back as I am always adding new places.
Tips for Hiking During Hunting Season
- Even though these preserves and parks don’t permit hunting, we recommend everyone hitting the trails wear high-vis vests or hats in fluorescent orange or pink.
- Stay on the marked trails.
- Keep your dogs on a leash. We also take the extra precaution of having Nova wear a high-vis vest.
- Tell someone where you plan to hike and when you will return.
