When we go waterfall chasing, we usually try to hit more than one waterfall on a trip. On this day we visited Clarendon Falls, Medina Falls, and Warsaw Falls, and Warsaw Falls was the final waterfall in our waterfall trifecta. Warsaw Falls is very much a hidden gem. This gorgeous waterfall is absolutely worth the 1-mile creek hike to reach it. While the other two waterfalls were beautiful, this waterfall was completely stunning with its sheer high and fullness.

Creek Hike

I really enjoy creek walking, especially on a hot day. Stony Creek is really lovely and the hike up the creek to the waterfall is full of smaller waterfalls with deep pools around each one. There is a trail that runs along the creek but it goes in and out of the creek, so you are likely to still get your feet wet. The hike itself isn’t hard, but it is very slippery in spots and proper footwear is a must. Flip-flops are not recommended. Water Shoes, old sneakers, or hiking boots are better for places like this.

Fun Fact: We found lots of wild raspberries growing up and down the creek. Go when they are ripe and enjoy a little treat while you hike.

Warsaw Falls

Warsaw Falls is a really fantastic sight when you round the bend of the creek and there it is, an enormous full waterfall plummeting down. The waterfall is approximately 80 feet and quite full at all times. It is an exceptionally beautiful waterfall. This is one of those waterfalls that you can actually get under and enjoy the feel of falling water over yourself.

Warsaw Village Park

This is an enormous park. There is are sports field, baseball diamond, and swimming pool. There are also picnic tables and pavilions, as well as playgrounds and a fitness course. This is a great place for a family picnic.

Winter at Warsaw Falls

The winter hiking to Warsaw Falls is for Advanced Hikers Only. You are hiking over a frozen creek, where there can be deep pools. Use extreme caution when hiking over the ice. I highly recommend wearing microspikes or Yaktrax. This is a truly beautiful area, where the deep ravines create a quiet and peaceful snow-covered wonderland.

Sledding at Warsaw Park

This park has a fantastic sledding hill. There wasn’t anyone using it when we visited, however, it was also about 8 degrees out. It is nice and wide with a decent grade, enough to be fun but not enough to be seriously dangerous.

Getting to Warsaw Falls

Liberty Street, Warsaw, NY

Google Map Link

From Route 20A, turn onto Liberty Street. The park is located on the right, about two blocks down the road. The park is circular; you will need to drive to the end of the park that faces the wood. There is a small parking area there.

You will find an open area in the woods, which is a sled hill in the winter. Walk about halfway up this hill, and a trail will appear on your left, take that trail to the creek. Follow the creek for approximately 1 mile to Warsaw Falls.

As always when you head out into nature, please be considerate of other hikers and leave no trace. Please do not leave trash behind. If you bring your dog, please pick up its poop.
