Roadside waterfalls are fantastic because everyone has the opportunity to see them. The Adirondack Mountain has several beautiful waterfalls that either be viewed from the roadside or require minimal walking, like this waterfall located on Route 30 in the Southern Adirondacks.
The Falls
What makes this waterfall so beautiful isn’t height (of which it really has none.) Whiskey Brook Falls has large rocks that create elegant but small cascades and are tucked into a small lovely opening in the forest. Suppose you want to get a closer look at the falls, you only need to walk a few feet. Although you will need to be careful if you plan to climb over the large rocks in the stream, they can be slippery and vastly uneven. We visited in the autumn and the vibrant changing leaves added even more beauty to this already stunning waterfall.
Getting to Whiskey Brook Falls
This waterfall is located on Route 30 about 2.6 miles from the Town of Speculator. We visited while camping at Lewey Lake State Park and Indian Lake Islands which are located on Route 30 (about 10 miles away from the falls.) There isn’t a real parking area, but the shoulder has been worn down by all the cars that have stopped to view the cars. There is plenty of room to pull off the road so you aren’t obstructing traffic.
